How do I become a Driving Instructor?
There are three exams to pass to qualify as a driving instructor:
Instructor Training Part 1
The theory test is in two parts, part one is a multiple choice questionnaire consisting of 100 questions and part two is a hazard perception test. You must pass both parts at the same time.
Instructor Training Part 2
The ADI part 2 is a test of your driving ability. It is a very advanced driving test and a high standard of skill and competence are required. This test will be conducted by a specialist DVSA examiner
Instructor Training Part 3
The ADI part 3 test is a test of your ability to instruct. You will need to attend the test centre with a pupil where you will be observed by an examiner in how you would conduct a one hour ‘Client Centred’ driving lesson to your pupil. This test is also conducted by a specialist DVSA examiner.
